Background:
School closures were mandated on March 16, 2020, due to the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. Some staff had to work on-site with the public to keep district operations functioning, and some of these staff received hazard pay previously for work performed on-site between March 18, 2020, and May 20, 2020. Other staff did not receive this additional compensation even though they were required to work on-site with the public during the same time period. This item requests a stipend for eligible staff who did not receive hazard pay previously and were centrally mandated to work on-site with the public between March 18, 2020, and May 20, 2020. |

Fiscal Impact Statement:
This item requests $150,000 set aside for stipends. |
Implementation and Assessment Plan: |
If approved, the administration will provide a stipend to eligible staff who did not receive hazard pay previously and were centrally mandated to work on-site with the public at the beginning of the pandemic. |

Recommendation
The administration recommends that the Board authorize $150,000 for hazard pay stipends for eligible staff who did not receive hazard pay previously and were centrally mandated to work on-site with the public between March 18, 2020, and May 20, 2020, not to exceed $150,000 in stipends. |
