Background:
|
School Nutrition Services remained focused on serving students with healthful, nutritious meals throughout the 2022-23 school year. We have served approximately 1.6 million meals so far during the 2022-23 fiscal year. Our emphasis during the 2022-23 school year is to transition schools, contingent upon needed staffing, from pre-pack meals to on-site cooking method. Our goal is to move up to 25 schools to on-site cooking during the current school year. We have also started revising our menus and offering more food choices/option to our students. In order to address meal-quality concerns, Nutrition Services will also focus on professional development for current and newly hired staff throughout the 2022–23 school year. Nutrition Services will continue to engage students in food tasting and nutrition education. School Nutrition Services proudly participates in the USDA’s Fresh Fruit & Vegetable Program (FFVP). 81 MPS schools were awarded this grant in 2022-23 school year, totaling $2,020,152. |
