Background:
|
It is Milwaukee Public Schools' longstanding practice to be self-insured for liability under the Wisconsin Worker's Compensation Act. In order to maintain this self-insured status, Milwaukee Public Schools is required every three years to reapply and provide the Department of Workforce Development with a resolution, passed by its governing body, stating its intent and agreement to self-insure. Wisconsin Administrative Code 80.60(3) imposes this mandate upon all Wisconsin political subdivisions and taxing authorities.

Fiscal Impact Statement:

This item does not authorize expenditures other than those already allocated to the worker's compensation budget.

Implementation and Assessment Plan
:

Upon approval by the Board, the Administration will move forward with executing the resolution.
|
Recommendation:
|
The Administration recommends that the Board adopt the resolution to authorize the renewal of the Board's self-insurance status as attached.
