Update with Possible Action on Resolution 2122R-04 Middle School and High School Equity.pdf
Background: At the May 2021 meeting, the Board referred Resolution 2122R-004 by Director Peterson to create an equity workgroup regarding enrollment to the Committee on Student Achievement and School Innovation.

At the June 2021 meeting, the Board adopted Resolution 2122R-004 on Middle School and High School Equity and an initial meeting of the high school principals from both select criteria and non-select criteria schools met with the regional superintendent for the high school region, senior director of student services, director of research, assessment and data, regional manager of specialized services, manager of assessment, and data, manager of student services, and manager of enrollment services. This group brought out district concerns and issues.

In October 2021, the Middle School and High School Equity group was formed. This group of 56 participants included a wide range of stakeholders. Recommendations from this group were presented to the Board in December 2021. A smaller steering committee was formed from the work group to study in depth the concerns and issues brought forth. The recommendations of the steering committee were approved by the board in June 2022 and were implemented in fall of 2022.

This report will provide information on the process this year with continued updates moving forward.
