Background:
The OAE Department of Contract Compliance Services is requesting to change an FY12 budget position of Administrative Support Specialist, with a range of $42,917-$57,188 to an Assistant Analyst position. During FY12, Contract Compliance Services had several employee retirements. The Manager of Contract Compliance met with Human Resources (HR) to discuss the department's needs and asked HR to study the requirements of various positions. It was determined the title of Administrative Support Specialist position did not accurately describe the job duties required by this position. Following its evaluation, which included internal and external comparisons, HR created the job description for an Assistant Analyst position to which it assigned a level 0A with a range of $32,000-$40,236. The position change will result in a salary cost savings.  
Fiscal Impact Statement:
A salary cost savings will be realized.  
Implementation and Assessment Plan:
Upon Board approval, Contract Compliance Services will post the Assistant Analyst position and interview respondents with the expectation of hiring a candidate prior to the end of the current fiscal year.  
Recommendation
Your Committee recommends that the Board approve a change in position and budget authority to establish an Assistant Analyst level 0A position to replace an Administrative Support Specialist position. This change in positions will result in a salary cost savings.
