Committee's recommended adoption of amended Resolution 1112R-023.pdf
Background: As a part of the Administration’s efforts to include students in the decision making process and activities that provide the opportunity for students to be active partners, the Superintendent solicited all high schools at the start of the 2011-2012 school year to select two students to serve on the Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council.

The Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council (SSAC) is comprised of sixty-eight high school students representing thirty-three high schools that include traditional, charter and non-instrumentality charter schools. The SSAC members provide input to the Superintendent on concerns, perspectives, and experiences of the students attending Milwaukee Public Schools. Students serve as advisors and as liaisons between the school administration, student government association and the district.

The Administration recognizes and commends the work of the youth in Milwaukee Public Schools such as those Youth Empowered in the Struggle and members of the Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council (SSAC) and recommends that the opportunity to contribute to the Student Bill of Rights be extended to all high school students before a final version is adopted.
